Beginning My Homestead Journey π±π
Every year, I find new ways to rely less on our broken food system. The constant recalls and issues with food safety keep reminding me how essential it is to grow my own food and buy from local farmers who care about the land and the quality of their produce.
Iβve been practicing seasonal eating for a while now, and Iβve found that itβs made the transition much smoother. But, as with anything worth doing, itβs not without its challenges. Iβve had to pick up new skills along the wayβand one of the most rewarding has been canning. Itβs become my jam... literally! Preserving the harvest and filling jars with the seasonβs bounty brings a sense of fulfillment thatβs hard to describe. Canning, pickling, and preserving are essential skills for anyone wanting to embrace a more self-sufficient, sustainable lifestyle.
Gardening is going strong, and every time I harvest, it feels like a small victory. But itβs not just about the gardening; itβs about creating a more connected and sustainable life. Whether Iβm canning fresh vegetables from the garden or making pickles to preserve summer flavors, I feel empowered knowing that Iβm taking control of what I consume.
